W.R.A.P. with Creativity

Wellness Recovery Action Planning (W.R.A.P.) is an evidenced based practice that helps people discover and practice the things that keep them well and on their road to recovery. In this workshop, we will develop personal WRAPs and explore ways to incorporate creativity into all aspects of our wellness and recovery. Successful completion of this workshop will meet the “seminar 1” requirement to take the WRAP Facilitator Training. This workshop provides 22 CEUs.

Wellness Recovery Action Planning is an evidenced based practice that was developed by people living with mental illness who wanted to figure out how to live a life of wellness and recovery. The group was lead by Mary Ellen Copeland, who completed a study on important aspects of wellness and recovery. The results of her study was the foundation for WRAP.

WRAP allows participants to identify what wellness looks like in their lives and plan ways to bring that vision of wellness to fruition. It helps people discover their triggers and signs of unwellness, develop methods to get back to wellness, and avoid crisis. WRAP is a flexible tool which can be customized and adapted. This makes it very easy to incorporate creativity into a WRAP. WRAP with Creativity will explore ways to include creativity into our plans for wellness and recovery.

Creativity is an important wellness tool in the lives of many people. As a wellness tool, creativity has been shown to decrease depressive symptoms, increase positive emotions, reduce stress, and improve immune system functioning. We will explore various forms of creativity and how to make space for creativity in our lives regularly. This workshop does not require participants to be artistic. We only require participants to have an open mind and a willingness to try new things.
