April 2019 Peer Certification Training

Peer Certification Training is for people currently working or volunteering in peer support who want to become Certified Peer Recovery Specialists in the state of Delaware. This course provides participants with all of the information needed to take the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist exam. Additionally, participants will gain knowledge and practice skills to strengthen their abilities as peer supporters.

There are online and in person components to this training. The online component must be completed before the start of the in person class sessions. The in person training will be held February 12, 13,14, 20, and 21. By completing and submitting this form, you are applying to participate in this training. You will be notified by email or phone call if you have been accepted into the training. At that time, you will be notified of the location of the training. This particular class will be held in Kent County. The next New Caste County training will be held in March. Applicant Requirements

  • Applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Applicant must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Applicant must have direct person experience living with mental illness and/or addiction in recovery. (For our purposes, supporting or living with someone with mental illness or substance use disorder does not qualify)
  • Applicant must be willing to self-disclose lived experience for the purpose of education, role modeling, and providing hope to others about the reality of recovery.
  • Applicant must have at least 3 months experience working or volunteering under supervision in a peer role.
  • Applicant must complete the six course online curriculum prior to attending classroom training. Completion of the online component is required to successfully complete the course.
