Essential Peer-Based Ethics & Boundaries provides a comprehensive overview of professional ethics and boundaries for Peer Recovery Specialists. Participants will learn the fundamental differences between traditional clinical boundaries and peer-based boundaries, define and discuss professional ethics, and explore the role of boundaries in adhering to practice standards and resolving ethical dilemmas.

The continuing education module, Essential Peer-Based Ethics & Boundaries, provides a comprehensive overview of professional ethics and boundaries for Peer Recovery Specialists. Participants will define and discuss professional ethics, review the ethical code and core competencies for peer providers, and explore how healthy boundaries help us adhere to practice standards, resolve ethical dilemmas, and preserve the safety and security of clients and providers. Participants will learn the fundamental differences between traditional clinical boundaries and peer-based boundaries. Special attention will be paid to privacy & confidentiality laws and limitations, as well as an in-depth look at informed consent, therapeutic self-disclosure, and the ethical application of social media technologies. Participants will engage in activities throughout the training to foster reinforcement and practical application of new knowledge.
