Peer Certification Training is designed for individuals who are currently employed or volunteering in peer support roles and are seeking to become a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) in the State of Delaware.

This comprehensive 50-hour training program prepares participants for the CPRS certification process by covering the core knowledge, skills, and competencies required of peer recovery professionals. Through interactive learning, practical exercises, and real-world application, participants will strengthen their ability to provide effective, recovery-oriented peer support.

Seating for this training is not guaranteed. There is an application process. Applicants must meet all of the following qualifications:

• Be at least 18 years of age.

• Have a High School Diploma or GED.

• Have direct, personal lived experience with:

o Mental health recovery, and/or

o Substance use recovery.

*Please note: Supporting or living with someone who has a mental health condition or substance use disorder does not meet the lived experience requirement for this training.

• Be willing to appropriately self-disclose personal lived experience for the purposes of:

o Education

o Role modeling

o Instilling hope

o Demonstrating the reality and possibility of recovery

• Have a minimum of two (2) months of experience working or volunteering in a peer support role under supervision.

• Currently be serving in a paid or supervised volunteer peer support position.

Zoom conferencing can be accessed through a smartphone, computer, tablet or by phone (dial in).

Participants will have the best experience completing assignments through a tablet or computer. Using smartphones to complete assignments is strongly discouraged.

Successful completion of this course will provide you with all of the training hours needed to apply for the Peer Recovery Specialist Certification Exam in Delaware.

This is a 4-week course which will begin on December 1st, 2026 and will end December 17th, 2026.

There will be required attendance on all sessions through Zoom on the dates below. Most live sessions begin at 9 am and will end around 12 pm.
